72 / 365 Red ribboned Ella

Ella had to have the red ribbon in her hair today. I didn’t expect to see it again after she left for school but when she came home, it was still in! This was actually really impressive for Ella because she usually loses everything we put in her hair!

Bounding into Spring

See what I did there? Bounding into Spring….good eh?! 🙂

Anyway, back on topic!
On Saturday we spent a lovely, if a little chilly, day out in the garden. We started by getting the fairy princess tent put back together then emptied out all the pots that had should have been emptied before Christmas when the plants in them died off. We got a lot of organising and cleaning done ready for all the planting that needed doing.

I have to admit that I’m not a very organised gardener. The netting with the dead bean plants on it from last year is still attached to the uprights and I didn’t prepare the vegetable bed by digging it over before winter.

We had lunch then nipped out to B&M to stock up on compost and planters then the girls sowed a couple of packets of wild flower seeds in the large planter they used last year for their fairy garden and KayCee got some pots ready for the tomato seeds we bought.
We all worked together to get the potatoes planted then everyone started getting tired and cold so we called it a day and went in to make some dinner.

On Sunday, Grandma Lucy* came out to help us re-pot the blueberry bush, strawberry deutzia, lantana, giant oriental lilies and some bedding plants.

We got loads done and had a lovely weekend together, despite not getting to the garden centre as planned. The girls were a little disappointed because the garden centre has a play area and animals you can feed. You can also buy fish food and feed the big fish in the lakes.
We’ve promised to make it a priority the next weekend they’re at home 🙂
